Where & what to eat
Portuguese gastronomy is one of the best, richest and most varied of the world with a heavy Mediterranean influence, but also influences from all over the world, thanks to Portuguese conquerors that travelled the world in centuries past. As a coastal country, with one of the largest maritime areas of Europe, Portugal is a great consumer of fish and seafood, so you will have the freshest the ocean has to offer. Portuguese also take great care in quality meat, and especially beef is provided by nature-fed and outside living animals. Portugal produces some of the best wines, olive oil, cheeses and bread which heavily influence the cuisine.
You cannot miss the chance to try Cozido à Portuguesa, at least one of the 1001 codfish recipes, tasty cheeses, chouriço and presunto platters and many other dishes, all matched with the best-matching wines!
