1- Visit the famous Santa Justa, Glória & Bica Elevators

Lisbon is a city built on seven hills. As a result, getting around isn’t as easy as it is in some places. However, Lisbon has built a few unique ways to get up and down the hills: a system of funicular railways & elevators called “elevadores”. They not only will save you time & energy getting around the city, they are also picturesque sights on their own and will make for great addictions to your Lisbon’s photo album or Instagram profile!

2- Elevador de Santa Justa

This elegant elevator is without a doubt one of the truly unique tourist attractions of Lisbon. The exterior structure is decorated with glorious neo-gothic arches and geometric patterns, while inside two sumptuous wood carriages whisk passengers up in style. One of the highlights of your Baixa District will be the amazing viewing platform sitting on top of it. From there you can get some of the finest and famous views of Lisbon downtown area.

3- Elevador da Glória

The most famous funicular in Lisbon. It connects the Downtown area with Bairro Alto. At the top of the Funicular, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view over Lisbon from San Pedro de Alcántara viewpoint. The Elevador da Glória was opened to the public on 24 October 1885.

4- Elevador da Bica

The Bica Funicular connect the Riverside area of Lisbon to the famous Bairro Alto District. It inaugurated on 28th June 1892, seven years after the Glória Funicular.
